A Victorian church that has stood in Hednesford for almost 130 years before being taken down in 2022 to make way for 6 new bungalows has today been commemorated by Hednesford Town Council following the Town Council’s donation of £1000 from CIL Funds.
Representatives from Hednesford Town Council, in partnership with Lamm Homes Ltd, unveiled a lasting memorial to St Saviours Church on the site of the new development.
The memorial houses the former bell from the Church and incorporates original hardwood, roof tiles and steps that were salvaged from the former church.
A spokesperson from Hednesford Town Council said ” the Church played an important role within the local community, with many dances, events and weddings taking place here and although the building was beyond repair we are thrilled to be able to ensure it will now never be forgotten” .
Hednesford Town Council would like to send a special thank you to Lamm Homes Ltd for the construction of the memorial and also to former Town Councillors Annette Walker and Sharon Jagger without who it would not have been possible
